Films was founded by Dirk Impens in 1989
From 1981 to 1985, Dirk Impens (1957) was manager of the 'Internationale
Nieuwe Scène' theatre company, and in this capacity he
was responsible for organising tours in the Netherlands, Germany,
France, Italy, Spain and the Soviet Union.
He then launched his career as the production manager in films,
his first projects being 'CONGO EXPRESS' (Armand De Hesselle
and Luc Gubbels, 1986), 'CRAZY LOVE' (Dominique Deruddere,
1986), and 'HECTOR' (Stijn Coninx and Urbanus,1987).
In 1988 he was co-founder of 'Independent Productions', together
with Marc Punt and Jan Verheyen. It was for this company that he
put out
the short films 'MACHO CITY' directed by Peter De Sterk,
'A HELPING HAND' by Jan Verheyen, and 'MADONNA' by
Hugo Segers; and in 1989 he produced for 'Independent Productions'
the Robbe De Hert-directed 'BLUEBERRY HILL'. After that,
he founded his own production company 'Favourite Films'
He
hit the jackpot with his first film production, 'DAENS' directed
by Stijn Coninx : achieving commercial and artistic success
both in Belgium and abroad, the highpoint of which was an Oscar
nomination in the category 'Best Foreign-Language Film' in 1993.
Since
1989 Favourite Films produced and co-produced about 15 feature films
and television series.
